Easter Candy 2022
I'm always looking for odd foods and candy to try and there is something about holidays that have producers releasing odd flavors or even geeky themed items to drive up the sales. This year I noticed a lot of different jelly bean flavors. Many of the below bags helped consumers pick flavors that matched their likes instead of just buying mixed bags where they may be flavors that they don't like.
Then there was the really crazy one:The only place I could find these was at Walgreens and I only knew about them thanks to 1000th Ghost. The flavors in this bag match what you may be able to find on a Taco Truck.
-Margarita: kind of like a virgin margarita. Not as much lime as I was expecting. This one could have been better if they would have been able to come up with a way to give it that tequila bite. I have seen other jelly beans like the beer (yes you can really buy them) ones that have been able to get a more complex taste to them.
-Churro: Bland, hard to even get a cinnamon flavor from it.
-Salsa: So to me this was the most intriguing flavor. It was sweet, sour, and a little spicy. The best way I could describe it is if you take really cheap salsa and then add a lot of sugar.
-Guacamole: Bland and not guacamole. What flavor it did have was a weird earthy sweet taste.
-Beef Taco: Oddly enough I could kind of picture eating a beef taco with this one. I did notice that the ones with more dark spots had a stronger beef flavor. I don't think they mixed the flavor very well in these.
-Horchata: These ones kind of did have the after taste of Horchata.
Me being me, decided to take these to work and have people there try them so I could see their reaction. Some of the faces were funny, like on the salsa. The two that people seemed to like the best was the churro and the horchata. I think it was just because they were the flavors that better matched the sweetness of jelly beans.
Then there are the peeps. Every year I try at least one new flavor (new to me or actually a new flavor for that season).
Even though these Wild Berry Peeps were not marked as being sour, they were. To me the sourness wasn't overpowering, but my mom really didn't like them because of it. I would eat these again.
This one I ended up eating most of the package because of how strong the coffee taste was.
This version actually tasted better then the other coffee ones. It had a better balance of flavor.
During holidays it is also normally easy to find treats that also mix in the geek. All of these ones had candy in them that matched a type of fandom.
I didn't try them due to their cost, but it was nice to find them.
