Watermelon Flavored Drinks

In honor of summer I'm doing this post since watermelon drinks always seem to pop up. This will be a post I keep running and as I find new ones I'll add to it. Like most flavors, watermelon can go weird as an artificial flavor. The weird thing is though that I usually like the artificial flavor better then the actual thing. I'm not a fan of watermelon in general, but something happens when they make the artificial flavor that to me it gets better.

Drinks You Can Pick Up At The Store

Clear American Watermelon

This is mostly just a flavored water. For an artificial flavor this isn't too bad. It tastes more like the rind then the fruit, but that's not a bad thing. This is a guilt free drink since it has no calories. These can be found at Walmart stores.

Mercado Sandia Sweet Watermelon Soda

This soda was actually really good. It was not too sour unlike other sodas. Found these at King Soopers.

Hata Ramune Soda Watermelon

If nothing else Ramune soda is interesting to open and like most this one fizzed up out of the bottle making a small mess for me. For me watermelon has two distinct tastes, one being the red part of it and the the other being the rind if you go down too far when eating it. To me this drink tastes more of the rind. SFC BIO Sparkling Watermelon

This drink I found at the Hmart in Aurora when I went in just to see what all flavors of drinks I could get. This was basically just a watermelon soda. I paid a little over $2 for one can and I don't think it was worth the price because the flavor was nearly the same as the Mercado soda above. You just pay more since it is imported.

Watermelon Hint Water

Hint water can be found in a lot of different stores. They are supposed to be just a hint of flavor, but the flavor in this one was so weak that you could have told me it was any flavor and I may have believed you. There was no 'hint' of watermelon and I could barley tell that it had any flavor at all. For the price I would just rather get a plain water.

Bai Antioxidant Infusion Kula Watermelon

I'm not sure if this is really watermelon in flavor. It also leaves a weird after after taste that is bitter. I think it comes from what ever they are adding to make it have 'antioxidants'. The whole bottle only had 10 calories, but even has a low calorie drink I'm unsure if I would buy it again. I found mine at the King Soopers in Parker, but you can find them in most grocery stores.

Honey Bee's Basil Seed Watermelon Flavored Drink

Even though the bottle says that they use an artificial flavor, it tastes like I'm actually biting into a watermelon. The weird thing about this drink is the floating basil seeds. They make the drink look like watermelon in the appearance of the seeds. This drink may also be a weird texture to people who have not had other drinks that have seeds in them, like chia seeds for example. This drink I found at the Hmart in Aurora Colorado (Hmart is an Asian market). I actually really liked this drink and I would get it again. (130 calories per bottle,33g or 12% carbs, and calcium 70mg or 6%)

Aura Bora Peppermint Watermelon

When it comes to actual food blending peppermint into a watermelon salad is great. When you start messing around with flavorings it doesn't always work out so well. In the case of this drink the peppermint was over powering because they just added too much of it. The watermelon flavor when you got it was more of the rind flavor instead of the fruit part. The drink was ok, but I would not spend money on it or actively seek it out. I found this product at Walmart.

Watermelon Soda (Rocket Fizz)

I got this one at a Rocket Fizz store and it is their store brand. There was no watermelon flavor. It just tasted like a cream soda that had gone bad. There was some weird taste that was almost rancid. I would not recommend this drink to anyone unless you want to play a bad joke on somewon.

Drinks At Restaurants

Native Foods Watermelon Aqua Fresha

This was actually one of the best watermelon drinks I have tried at a restaurant. You could tell it was made with real watermelon and had mint mixed in. It was really pricey, and luckily they let you get refills to help you get your money's worth.

Watermelon Boba

These boba drinks you can find at many different places. This one came from Beantree Coffee in Aurora.  It had a strong artificial watermelon taste and was very good. With the color of the drink it actually looked like watermelon and the bobas looked like the seeds.

Watermelon Southern Lemonade (The Hamburger Stand aka The Wienerschnitzel)

I tried this drink at the location on Havana street in Aurora Colorado. It was very sour, the watermelon flavor was hardly there, and it was an all around unpleasant experience. I would not recommend this one to any one.

Watermelon Drink (Los Molino's) 

This is one of the different agua frescas that they do. What is great about these drinks is how rehydrating and refreshing they are. They are basically just fruit juice mixed with water. This drink did not taste watered down and still had a very strong watermelon taste. It was really good and I would get it again.
