Good Bye and Good Riddance To the McRib
It has been many years since I last ate a McRib. In the past I had tried to eat them any time someone made a big deal about them to see what all the hype was about. I still don't get it.
The McRib first came out in the 1980s and has been going away and coming back many times with it being more of a seasonal item. Now that McDonalds announced that it was back for a final tour I decided to try it again and here is what I got:
So... first off the one I went to didn't even try and put it on the right type of bun. There really isn't consistency in the final product with McDonalds food since it seems that most are privately owned and customer service has tanked at most of the ones in Colorado. For the other parts of the sandwich... the sauce was kind of bland and super watered down which made it supper messy to eat. I eat my fair share of BBQ and the sauce on this thing would be a disappointment even to the most inept home cook let alone something that is created by a "restaurant". Then there was very little of the toppings. Also just as a weird side note to show how absorbed people have become with the concept of the McRib, here is a pick of a McRib shot a bar in Colorado came up with.
I did try it...As you can see there were pickles and onions in the jar with a vodka base. When I tasted it there was also a hit of BBQ flavoring that they added as well. Even though the shot was weird it was way better then the actual sandwich.10/3/23 Update: Please Just Let It Die
