Ikea Julbord 2022

After seeing this event advertised in past years I finally decided to try Ikea's Julbord on December 9th. This is a one night special event that you have to buy tickets ahead of time.

We got there about 45 minutes early, but they were strict in only sitting people for the time on the ticket. This would cause issue latter in the night when they started to get backed up. They didn't have enough tables out and even a half hour before the event was scheduled to end they were bring out more tables to try and sit people.

While people ate they had singers and dancers putting on little performances.

We got there early enough in the event that the lines for food on the first round weren't too bad.
They had a few different small plate options for people to sample some of the different foods. They had the same foods at the end of the buffet where you could get as much as you wanted.

They had all of their different meat and Veggie balls.
I really enjoyed the salmon and they had a great sauce that they would put on top of it.
There were two different potatoe options. One regular and one with herring. I actually liked the one with the herring better because it was more flavorful.

The dessert bar did feel a little empty in relation to its offerings when compared to the rest of the food.
This was one of the small plates I grabbed. On the corner closest to the camera was a small piece of herring. I can't say it was good, but it was edible. The texture was kind of like jelly.

I made sure to try a little of everything. This picture shows the good salmon sauce. Of the eggs my favorite was the one with the shrimp on it. When I can get salmon in two different forms in the same meal, I'm a happy person.
For the desserts I wasn't really a fan of anything. I should have just focused on the main food. To be truthful, while eating at Ikea in general I really haven't had a good dessert there.
I was so happy when I noticed that they had glogg. Ikea hasn't carried the bottles of it for years now and it was great to at least get a cup full. They also had rasins and almonds that you could add to it.

Overall, the event was a fun experience. For the 2022 holiday season I would have two major holiday events. This one which could be considered 'low end' since you were eating at a furniture store, and then the second event was a 'high end' event because it was at a Hilton hotel. The food and the overall experience was much better at Ikea's low end event then the one at the Hilton. I would highly recommend Ikea's Julbord to people and I know that I will be attend each year I get a chance to.
