The Food of a Mini Education Conference 3/17/23

For my readers you may have noticed that I have had to change my eating habits again. As my health changes in different directions I'm always having to adapt. At the same time I know with both fun and work conferences that I can not always eat as I need to and those times become cheat days out of need instead of want.

So going into this all day meeting I tried to be extra good during the week to make up for it a little. Breakfast was basically carbs and sugar. This is one of the reasons I have never really been a fan of breakfast foods in general.

There was no protein option on the buffet. Yes I know that protein is more expensive, but at the same time it helps people feel full longer and is a healthier break from all the carbs and sugar.
My plate was a nightmare for most diets and any one pre-diabetic. The best tasting part was the scone that I think had cranberries in it. This also had a cup of black coffee with it.
I had several  cups of tea with no sugar. The brand Two Leaves and a Bud had a few different types that I tried: Alpine Berry, Organic Peppermint, and Organic Turmeric Antioxidant with Rooibos. All of these were good. The turmeric one was surprisingly smooth and missed the bite that turmeric can have.
Then there was the Trescerro brand that I tried. English Breakfast Black Tea- was smoother then other similar teas I have tried from other brands and even after sitting for a while it had not gone bitter.

Lunch came in these oversized bags. I know that I took a picture of the salad option which would have been the "healthier" option, but I was so salad out from my con weekend that the idea of another salad just made me sick.
This one shows the disproportionate size of food to the bag. I actually felt bad about throwing away the bag and took it with me. It could be a good bag for yard clean up.
My meal did not come with the fruit. A friend of mine gave it to me because she didn't want it. The potato salad had very little dressing on it, but it had a good tang to it. The sandwich had too much moisture in it. It was good that they had lettuce and tomato for it, but they should have wrapped it separately to keep the bread from getting moist.
I did also grab one cup (6oz) of the lemonade. It had not been over sugared which was nice.
Then there was actually a snack time in the afternoon. This was way better then the lunch. They had a good mix of healthy and not healthy. Since today was my cheat day any way I got one of the brownies which was one of the better brownies that I have had at a catered event. I'm also a sucker for cheese and enjoyed the different options.

This was the catering company that provide the food for this event. It wasn't the worst catering experience I've had, but at the same time it wasn't even what I would call passable. At the same time I also know that you have to take into account what the organization ordered from the catering company.
