2023 "Spring" Candy and Treats

Two of the major holidays in the 'spring' are Valentine's Day and Easter. Both holidays are filled with sweet things to eat. This post will look at some of the ones I came across this year.

Strawberry Dipped in Chocolate Peeps

I found these at Target and decided to try them. They were actually good. The chocolate on the bottom gave them a nice texture change and the sweet and bitter balanced each other out. Tried February 2023.

Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Ice Cream from Cold Stone

For this I asked for the cherry pie mix in as well to dial up the berry flavor. This is one of the best ice creams I've had from Cold Stone in many years. There was a huge chunk of time I stopped going to them because the cost did not meet the quality. They are still overpriced for the most part, but at least they are starting to put out better products even if they are only there seasonally. Tried February 2023.

Russell Stover Heart Chocolate Truffle

This was super dense and had the taste/mouth feel of dark chocolate even though it wasn't. I was like death by chocolate with this density. I'm not really a fan of this and even if given one for free again I don't think I would eat it. I like chocolate, but this just was not good.

Kettle Corn Peeps

These actually did not have as much of a buttered flavor as I was hoping for. They were more like a sweet corn tortilla then Popcorn. I sometimes really like when people try to make artificial popcorn flavoring, because it mostly tastes like butter. I wish these would have went into that direction. They were OK to try once, but I wouldn't waste my time on them again. Found at Walmart and tried February 2023.

Fruity Pebbles White Chocolate Rabbit

The Fruity Peebles flavor was actually surprisingly strong. At the same time it was slightly oily which happens with cheap white chocolate. Found at the Dollar Tree and tried March 2023.

Peeps Cotton Candy

Very dull. It was just vanilla flavored cotton candy. It could have had something to give it some pop. Like they could have put in some of that rough colored sugar that Peeps are coated in. Found at the Dollar Tree and tried March 2023.

Peeps Gummies

These were really good. I wanted to eat the whole thing, but knew I couldn't and shared them with our student workers. I would get these again if I could. I found these at the Dollar Tree and tried them in March 2023.

Peeps Sour Watermelon

Of the different flavors of peeps you can find out there this is one of my favorite ones. It is just slightly sour and does not overpower your taste buds. At the same time you did get the artificial watermelon flavor as well. Tried February 2023.

Cadbury Creme Egg

Every year I try to get one of these. Sometimes they will be dried out on the inside so there is some issues about trying to get a consistent product. It can be a real surprise. Tried February 2023.
