Flavored Lemonades

One of the best ways to beat the summer heat is by sipping on lemonade. This is a classic drink that everyone has their own take on. You can put nearly any fruit flavor in lemonade to adjust the flavor. Some work better then others. Lemonade can run from sour to overly sweet. Here's a few for you to look at.

Drinks You Can Pick Up At The Store

Cherry Blade Lemonade (Bang Energy)

It was not as sour as I was expecting, at the same time I have had better flavors of Bang. The best thing is that it's zero calories so it's a guilt free drink. Tried June 2023.

Joyba Bubble Tea Strawberry Lemonade Green Tea

I had seen these before in the grocery store where you could buy a set of 4 for about 9 bucks, but had never wanted to waste that much money on buying 4 of something that I didn't know if I would like or not. So when I saw a single serving at a gas station I decided to give it a go. I would say for a lemonade in general it was below average because it seemed really watered down. All of the flavors were really watered down to the point where you could not saw what was in the drink without reading the label. The bubbles in this were the popping kind and not the boba kind. After you popped them they then were oddly chewy when compared to other similar pearls. I would say this drink was a waste of money and should be skipped. I also don't know if I would try their other flavors considering how bland this experience was. Tried April 2023.

Sprite Lymonade Legacy (Strawberry)

Super sour to the point of being unpleasant. It was actually really hard to finish this drink. Even though it said that there was supposed to be a strawberry flavor it was lost to the overall lemon flavor. It would actually made the drink much better if they would have added a strawberry syrup to both dial up the flavor and to help cut the sourness. Tried May 2023.

Sparkling Ice Strawberry Lemonade 

Way too sour for this type of drink. It also had a medicine like aftertaste to it. I found this at King Soopers and tried it in June 2023. I would never get this again.

Lori's Original Lemonade: Lavender Lemonade

This drink had a really mellow lavender flavor that they could have kicked it up a notch to have more flavor. It wasn't sour or overly sweet. I found this drink at Whole Foods for around $3.

Bea's Squeeze Lavender Lavender Lemonade 

Way too sour. I was too busy puckering to notice any lavender flavor. The sourness just overpowered everything. I'd never get this one again.

Big B's Organic Lavender Lemonade

Organic didn't mean good in this case. It was super sour and you could not tell at all that there was lavender in it. Actually this could have used a lot of lavender syrup to help cut through the sourness.

Belvoir Farm Elderflower & Rose Lemonade

This drink came in a large 25oz bottle. For this one the elderflower blended with the rose to create a flavor that was neither of them. At the same time I feel like the elderflower overpowered the rose, but could not hold its own at the same time. I did actually like it because it still had an overall floral taste that was light and it tasted good on a hot summer day. I found this drink at the World Market in the Southlands Mall area. 225 calories per bottle an it was also high in sugars and carbs. On the bottle it 

also recommended that you could mix it with white wine, vodka, or gin.

Fentimans Rose Lemonade

This drink I found at World Market. When I first tried it there was a weird taste. Yes, I did get the rose flavor, but there was something else in there that made it taste .....off.... Then I looked at the back of the bottle and it all made sense. They had added fermented ginger root extract. This gave the drink a weird bit that I can only compare to what you get when you drink tonic water. There was lemon juice in this drink, but I would not call it a lemonade, I feel that calling it that is really miss leading because of all of the extra things they added to this drink like pear juice. I would not say this drink was good, but you may like it if you like tonic water. I could see this being mixed with gin. The small bottle I got was only 9.3 oz, but had 110 calories. That makes this drink very high calorie per the volume you get even though the sugar they put in it does not help with the taste. I wouldn't by this one again.

Bea's Squeeze Pink Rose Lemonade

Of the rose flavored drinks I have tried this is the only "gross" one I have ran into. It had no rose flavor what so ever and it just tasted like they bought one of those plastic lemons from the produce section and squirted it directly into the bottle. The lemon flavor was just painful. Do not buy this product.

Drinks At Restaurants

Strawberry Lemonade (Nostrom eBar)

Just a touch sour, with a hint of strawberry. Even though it seemed sweeter then it needed to be the sweetness did not cut the sourness. Tried July 2023.

Watermelon Lemonade (Cracker Barrel)

It was about average for a lemonade. You did get the watermelon flavor and it was balanced between sweet and sour. Tried July 2023.

Peach Lemonade (Charleys Cheesestakes)

I was supper disappointed when I found out that they had stopped carrying their blueberry lemonade and now had peach instead. To start with the peach flavoring did not spread through the lemonade. The pieces were also large and most would not go up the straw. You would have needed a large boba straw to suck up the peaches. After I had finished off the liquid I then went in and scooped out the peach to eat. This was a failure as a lemonade and I hope they bring back the blueberry one. Tried April 2023.

Blueberry Lemonade (Charleys Cheesestakes)

I'm so sad that they got rid of this drink. It used to be one of the best flavored lemonades out there and I have had it many times. The blueberry flavor would be evenly spread throughout and the pieces of blueberry would easily go up the straw.

Watermelon Southern Lemonade (The Hamburger Stand aka The Wienerschnitzel)

I tried this drink at the location on Havana street in Aurora Colorado. It was very sour, the watermelon flavor was hardly there, and it was an all around unpleasant experience. I would not recommend this one to any one.

Native Foods Lavender Lemonade

 

While in Boulder we decided to try Native Foods since we had seen them in the past and wondered what they were. The food was not a good experience, but I would go back to just get this drink. It was a little on the sour side, could have used more sugar and an extra kick of lavender, but still good on a hot day.

Mango Lemonade (Chili's)

The mango lemonade is the one on the right. It was really good, but it did feel over sweetened. Still, I'd order it again. Tried June 2023.
