Gingerbread Flavored Treats

Gingerbread is a classic holiday flavor. This month we will look at some of the ginger bread products that you can find out there. Gingerbread is one of those flavors where the product can be either good or bad and it really does show the skill of it's creator to pull it off.

Mile Hi Popcorn Gingerbread Caramel

Mile Hi Popcorn in general is great, but their flavors can be hit or miss. This one was good except it just tasted like a dark caramel corn and the ginger flavor was missing. It was good, but I'm not sure if I would buy it again when they have other much better flavors.

Iced Gingerbread Popcorn (Sweet Chaos)

I found this popcorn at Dollar Tree and decided to try it. It was bland and they could have kicked up the ginger flavor a whole lot. The flavor of the icing overpowered the ginger flavor. They could have made this amazing if they would have also mixed in some of the ginger flavor into the icing. Even for $1.25 I felt disappointed in the product. Tried December 2022.

Gingerbread Red Vines

I had seen these at the Lolle Pops in Park Meadows, but when I saw them at the location in Cherry Creek Mall I decided to give them a try. My mom said they tasted better then normal Red Vines, which she doesn't like. I on the other had found them weird because to me they tasted like you were eating raw bread dough. The had the same taste how raw bread dough smells. To me there was no ginger flavor at all. Not worth the money, $3.50, and only try if you want to say you have tried them. Tried December 2022.

Wicklein Pfeffernusse Gingerbread Cookies
These were a World Market find. I've learned not to go hungry into this place because you will grab things like this. The inside of the cookie wasn't too bad, but the white outer coating was not very good and it left a weird after taste. These will not be a repeat buy. November 2022.

Gingerbread Cookie Kit Kat

I bought this bag thinking that if they were not very good I would put them in my candy bowl at work. These were actually tasty, and even though I did share a few of these by putting them out, most were eaten by me. I picked these up in November 2022.

Gingerbread Chocolate Cake
This mini gingerbread house I found at Miette et Chocolat at the Stanley Marketplace in Colorado. I thought it would be fun to try a 'high end' dessert. Inside the house was a small ginger cake. The cake was oddly fruity tasting instead of tasting like ginger or a spiced cake. It actually tasted more like a mulled wine that had fruit in it. For the price I paid I not only thought it was small, but I was expecting something of a higher quality. Tried in December 2022.

Vintersaga Milk Chocolate with Gingerbread Crumbs

They really did bring the ginger flavor with this one. I was expecting the gingerbread flavor to be weak or not there, but you clearly got the flavor. I got this at Ikea, so it is a Swedish product. I would recommend this. Tried in January 2023.

Tony's Chocolonely Gingerbread Flavor
I found this bar at a Ross for $2.99, but I have seen this brand for sale at other stores. This was for the most part just a plain chocolate bar. There was some little pieces of gingerbread cookie broken up into it, but all they did was give it a little crunch with no real taste. The should have added some ginger spice to the chocolate to help play up the flavor. Over priced for what you get. Tried February 2023.
