Ikea's Julbord 2023

For this year's Julbord, my mother and I took one of our friends with us to introduce him to the Julbord experience.
Our friend was African American and I noticed that there were only a couple of African Americans there (there was also what appeared to be one Asian American family). I was surprised because most of the cultural events around town you see lots of people from different ethnic groups there enjoying and learning about different cultures. This kind of event is not mainstream white culture and it seemed like other ethnic groups just didn't want to learn or experience a culture that they see linked to "American White" culture. It saddens me that people are not willing to learn about groups the hate or see as a threat, but they want people to be understanding of their culture. This is why I go to cultural events like this, so that I can learn about people from different backgrounds and why I try to bring people to them.
We were a part of the first group.
They had pre-plated options you could grab if you didn't want to build your own or if it was your first time and just wanted to try a little of everything.

Just for fun this year I brought our Elf on the Shelf to do photos with.

The salmon is always my favorite, but the eggs and meatballs are always good.
They had heated glogg and there were toppings you could add.
