Gummy Candies

I don't know if it is just me, but it seems that a lot of gummy products now a days are a lot harder/tougher to chew. I loved eating gummy candies as a kid, but now many of the gummies are so tough that its like eating jerky. I am now on the search to try and find gummies that have the classic texture I remember and not the hard leather that companies are currently trying to pass off as gummies. I also want people to be aware that some companies are way over charging for candies. One example of this is the Amos Peelez. Right now you can get these for 3 for $5 at Five Below, but at Lolli & Pops (Cheery Creek Mall and Park Meadows Mall) charge $9.99 per bag. That means I could basically get 6 bags at Five Below for what 1 bag would cost me there. Don't let people rip you off.

Great Value Gummy Bears
When I did the squeeze test at the store these felt soft, but when I tried to chew them they were hard. The flavors were about average. I wouldn't buy these again due to how hard they were. These were a Walmart find and are the Walmart value brand gummies. Tried July 2025.

Albanese True to Fruit Exotic Fruits Gummies
To me these are the texture that gummy bears are supposed to be. Perfect blend of softness with chewyness. The flavors were clearly what they were said to be and they were yummy. My favorite flavors in the bag were blood orange and Asian pear. Tried July 2025.

Amos 4D Gummy Dinosaur
When I tried the same brand but a different flavor (pineapple) they were soft, but this bag was on the harder side. I don't know if these were older or a different base recipe, but the texture was off. I'm not sure if I would give these a second chance or not. I got these at Five Below. Tried June 2025.

Amos 4D Pineapple Burst
These were sooooo good. Not only was the flavor great, but the texture was soft and what a gummy should be. I'm not sure why these were the perfect texture when other gummies buy the same brand do not have the same soft texture. $3.99 at Five Below. Tried April 2025.

Amos 4D Gummy Drinks
Not as hard as Hariabol gummies, but still tougher then they should be. The first bag I tried of this brand, the pineapples, were amazing, but every bag since have been much harder. The taste of these were ok, but even if they were soft I wouldn't try again due to the taste being boring. Tried August 2025.

Amos 4D Gummy Blocks
These were a little weird in that they had a menthol like taste/sensation to them. Their taste wasn't too bad, but unexpected. For texture they were firmer, but your teeth could still cut threw them without having to naw on them like jerky. Also, the answer to the question of if you could actually stack them like blocks is yes. I would only get these again if I found them on sale. They were still a little too tough for me to consider a good gummy texture. Tried August 2025.

Amos 4D Mango Lucky Fish
The texture of these was on the harder side. Not the hardest gummy I have ever had. The mango flavor was also a little off and too strong. It tasted like a medicine version of the flavor. Think how Cherry cough syrup is a weird version of cherry. This mango flavor was like that.  These are cute and would look good in those Jell-o fish bowl desserts. Even though they are cute I would not get them again because it was not a good experience, I was happy that I had found this small bag of them at Five Below, but I have seen them at Miniso as well. Tried October 2025.

Haribo Happy Hoppers
OMG. These were tougher then some of the toughest beef jerky I have eaten and actually hurt my teeth and jaw muscles to chew. I have no idea why some people consider Haribo the gold standard of gummy snacks, because this brand has the overall worst texture of any gummy snack I have ever tried. I keep trying to give them another chance thinking maybe I just got an old bag or something, but no, they just are that hard. Gas station find. Tried March 2025.

Amos Peelerz Watermelon
These were good. You could peel them if you wanted to, but I just popped them. Super yummy flavor and I would totally get these again. Found at Five Below. Tried October 2025.

Amos Peelerz Passion Fruit
These were also super good and I would totally buy them again. I did try to peel them just to check their peel ability, but the center was grainy, fall apart, and would not separate from the outside cleanly. These are just for popping due to the texture issues, but they were soft and the perfect gummy texture when chewing. Found at Five Below. Tried October 2025.

Amos Peelerz Lychee
The flavor of these was a little too strong. Lychee  is a flavor that is easily overpowered, but if too much is added then it can taste like medicine. This product was right on that line. I'm not sure if I would try it again due to the flavor, but it did have a good texture. Found at Five Below. Tried October 2025.

Amos Peelerz Caramel Apple
Another super good find and I was disappointed when I went back to get more that they were sold out and would not be getting any more back for the season. When I opened the package they were actually all melted together and looked like a mass of puss bubbles. It did not look appealing, but tasted amazing. Most of the time apple is made sour, but these were not sour at all. Even though these are a seasonal flavor I wish I could get them all year long. Found at Five Below. Tried September 2025.
