As the new Wonka movie hits theaters today, of course there are going to be movie tie ins in different places and one of these is IHOP.
My Wonka food experience at IHOP was well....disappointing. First off, the last several times I have ate at either of the 2 IHOPs near me they have been super slow and the food was average to sub par. So when my mother was excited to try the Wonka food. I had my doubts.
They did not match the picture at all and there was no cream/frosting like stuff between the layers. Then the purple stuff was basically just a powered sugar frosting.
Again not as pictured. Instead of having pink cotton candy, it was purple and was grape flavored. Also the drink itself was kind of bland in that it had a berry like flavor. I think they just tossed in whatever syrup they had instead of using what was supposed to be used.
So this is what pissed me off. Yes, pissed me off. The picture clearly showed 3 taco pancakes and the words also used the number 3. When the back end guy, not our waiter, brought out the pancakes I asked him why there was only 2. He said that was what there was supposed to be. I told him no, to look at the menu, and to bring me the third one.
We were sitting by the kitchen and then heard the argument break out in there over how many of them should be in an order. I have no idea why it was so hard for the staff to read the menu. They had no idea what they were supposed to be making or how and this shows poor training of the kitchen staff. Then for me to get the 3rd one it took half and hour. I don't know why it would take them that long to make a pancake and throw some stuff on it but it did. They were ok in taste, but not really worth the trouble we went through.
Overall, I would not recommend wasting your time on the Wonka menu or to be really truthful on IHOP at all. IHOP used to at least be decent, but now you have a better experience getting food at a gas station then you do at this food chain.
