Buc-ee's Take 2 May 2024

We decided to try to give Buc-ee's another try and this time we got up at the butt crack of dawn to try and get there before the crowds. It sort of worked. They were still super busy, but this time it wasn't as packed, we could actually move around and look at things, and finding parking was easy.
My food journey this time start with this blue cream soda. It was good, but the manufacture could have massively cut back on the food coloring. If you know what this dye does to you, it was so bad that it lasted for 3 days. If you know, you know.  I would drink this again. Also a note I forgot that this stuff will also dye your gums and teeth. That only lasted through the day even with me trying to scrub it off with a wet paper towel.

This was one of their bacon breakfast burritos. It was ok, but of the things I have tried at Buc-ee's it wasn't worth the price to size to quality that most of their other products have. I wouldn't get it again.

'Edible' cookie dough is sometimes a weird adventure. These ones were ok, but you could tell something was missing in the flavor if you have ever ate real raw cookie dough. Then we also did not eat it right away and we noticed that it started to get an oily slime on the outside. I think this is because they substituted the egg for oil while does not hold up as well as it warms. If you buy these I recommend that you eat them quickly.

It was more like an apple pie eggroll. They put all of the cinnamon and sugar on the outside that made it really messy. Then the inside was super bland. Not a good food experience and I would say that these should be a hard pass. They have other better food.

I finally got to try their chopped brisket sandwich. It had a good juicy to bread ratio and I didn't have to add anything to it. I would try this again and I think that the quality to price ratio is about right.

Did not try:
I still didn't try any of their fudge, I'll get some the next time I go. I also want to try some of their jerky, so we'll see what I grab next time.

Amusing Geeky Finds

My goal this time since I could actually walk around was to see what geeky products I could find. I've been stopping at truck stops most of my life and have always enjoyed finding geeky products like dragon statues or even action figures. You just never know what you will find.

Of course they had to have something big foot on it.

These two shirts were really cool (the one on the bottom was my favorite), but they were expensive at $72 bucks a pop. This price though is standard for these shirts. The next day I found the bottom one at a Hallmark as well for the same price. So at least I know they weren't up charging for them. The brand itself is just pricy.

They not only had TY items, but I found these cute Marvel bag clips.

They also had Marvel plushies and blankets.

This video game pillow plushie holder was so cute, but outside of my price range. These have a zipper where you can take the smaller plushies out.

For Pokémon they had blankets and cards. I would have expected card packs, but they had these nice tin sets.

They also had these mini plushie bracelets. these are mystery toys and each one had a few different styles you could get. They were priced at $7.99 which is a normal price for these since later in the day I also found them at Target for the exact same price. I like it when places don't hike up the prices and Buc-ee's seems to price their goods at normal prices.
