Mtn (Mountain) Dew Flavors

Growing up Mtn Dew was one of the most popular drinks for teens. I never understood why since I never thought that the regular was any good. Mountain Dew is one of those companies that are always trying to come out with something new. Some of their attempts are better then others, but at least they try to keep things interesting. Below we look at some of the different flavors that I have tried.

Purple Thunder

When I got this I entirely expected it to taste grape like, but was pleasantly surprised when it did not. There was a plum taste that did come through and I would totally buy this again. Tried February 2024.

Voltage

This soda was super sweet. It just tasted like super blue raspberry syrup. It was ok and I could see it being paired with the blue gummy sharks.

Summer Freeze

Got to try the full sugar version after trying the zero version, and it was much better. It didn't taste like the firecracker popsicle it was supposed to be flavored like. Instead it tasted like the blue otter pop (or the other fake ones in the plastic you suck on). It was good and I would get it again.

Summer Freeze

I'm thinking that this was supposed to taste like the rocket popsicles that you can get at the store. It was berryish, but I think the regular sugar flavor had to taste better then this one. It wasn't very good as a sugar free soda. I wouldn't get it again. Tried February 2024.

Berry Monsoon

It was super limey and tasted like they had added in blue raspberry syrup. Not one of their better flavors. This drink could have used some sugar to make it taste better. I tried this at a Sam's Club in December 2022.

Infinite Swirl

This is a special flavor that you can only get at 7 Eleven. It tasted like lemonade with a touch of pineapple. It was ok and I would drink it again. Tried in June 2024.

Zero Sugar Baja Blast

With me having to cut back on sugar I was both happy and hesitant when I say that Taco Bell had Zero Sugar Baja Blast on tap. I was expecting grossness, but it was actually really good for a diet drink. I even went back for a fill up. Tried March 2023.

Honeydew

I was surprised at how much it really did taste like honeydew. This seems to be a flavor that some have trouble getting right, but they were spot on. I really liked this flavor and I hope it either sticks around for awhile, or it becomes a regular on their rotation. Tried July 2025.

Sweet Lightning

This one was very mango tasting. I would say it was actually one of the above average in taste for Mtn Dew. I would drink this one again. I tried this one at a KFC in February 2023.

Baja Cabo Citrus

This one I found at a gas station in June 2025 trying to hide from a rain storm that was flooding the streets. The taste to me was just mostly your standard orange soda with the slightest hint of Baja Blast to the point I was questioning myself if it was there at all. Not bad for an orange soda.

Spark (Raspberry Lemonade)

It was a little sour and had a bit of the normal Mountain Dew flavor. The actual taste of the drink though was really muddy. I don't feel like it tasted like raspberry lemonade, but at the same time I could not really say what it tasted like. In a way it was bland when compared to other Mountain Dew flavors. I would drink it again if someone offered me a free one, but I wouldn't pay for it.

Code Red

Code Red holds a special place for me. It used to be my favorite Mtn Dew flavor, but I just can't drink it any more. This has nothing to do with the Mtn Dew itself. I went on a road trip with friends and thought that it would be great to take two 2 of the 2 liter bottles with me. I ended up drinking them both within a matter of hours and made myself very sick. Do not drink this in large volumes or any other Mtn Dew for that matter. At the same time I would still recommend this flavor since it is still one of the best ones they make.

Code Red Cherry

It tasted like normal Code Red. Not sure why they bothered. Tried May 2026.
