Taro Flavored Drinks

Taro in general is a very mellow taste even when you eat it directly. I actually love eating taro in hot pots. Drinking taro is another thing because it is hard to not have the other things in the drink over power the flavor of the taro.

Drinks You Can Pick Up At The Store

Pocas Taiwan Classic Bubble Tea Taro

A really mellow milk tea. The taro flavor was barely there, but even with that it was still an overall good product. The pearls in this had a different texture then I'm used to. They were not chewy. I got this drink at Five Below and I would pick it up again.

Rico Bubble Milk Tea Taro Flavor
Once again the taro flavor was too weak. It just tasted like milk tea, or more just like watered down milk. It had tiny bobas in it, bit their texture was weird. They were super soft and were bland. I'm used to bobas having a very distinctive flavor to them, and these tasted like nothing. Wouldn't get again.

In Tea Bubble Tea Taro
Of the canned taro milk teas I tried the was the best in flavor and bobas. The bobas in this one still had some firmness to them unlike the Pocas or Rico brands. I got this drink during the Lunar New Year celebration at the GW Supermarket in Aurora, Colorado.

Lady Boba Taro Bubble Tea (Madam Hong)
I was actually surprised at how many calories was in this 10.7oz can, 183. It was about average for the canned products. The bobas had a little chew to them, but the taro flavor was super weak. I found this for $1.25 at the Dollar Tree. Tried March 2023.

Drinks At Restaurants

Taro Pearl Milk Tea (Share Tea)

The flavor of this drink was so mellow that you couldn't pick out the taro flavor. I wouldn't get this there again because they do have better and more flavorful drinks there.

Taro Boba (Pho)
Really good strong flavor of taro which is hard to achieve. With tax it cam to $7, which is on the higher end of the boba price range in the Denver metro area. At the same time they don't even have a competitive price for places in the same mall. For example, just on the other side of the food court at the time I tried this drink, December 2022, was a place selling boba drinks for $1 cheaper. This may not seem like a lot, but it's about a 14% difference. It was good, but the price was a little high and that would cause me to have this be a one time only try. I got this at Pho in the Park Meadows Mall Food court.

Taro Milk with Taro Pudding (Tiger Sugar)
Taro is a mellow flavor, but it was non-existent in this drink. Even the taro pudding was bland. This is also one of the more expensive boba places in the Denver metro area with a large being around $8. This drink was not worth it.

Taro Smoothie (Viet's Restaurant)
Of the taro drinks that I tried for this post, this was the best one at a restaurant. Even though taro is a mellow flavor, this drink had a very strong taro flavor. It was really good and I would get it again.

Taro Cloud (Presotea)
This place is super high priced and they tack on fees for everything. Like bobas are not included. This drink was nearly $10, we had to ask for extra taro flavoring and even with the extra it was still weak. Would not recommend.

Taro Milk Tea (Kung Fu Tea)
When this drink was ordered we asked for extra taro instead of just trying it as it came. With the extra taro you did really get the taro flavor, but at the same time the over all drink was not that good. It was very one note and kind of boring.

Taro Boba (Zume Asian Cuisine)
This one actually had a strong taro flavor and was one of the better taro drinks at restaurants because they brought the flavor without you having to request modifications. Tried April 2023.
